YAGER, the studio behind the free-to-play Extraction Shooter The Cycle: Frontier has just outlined a number of new changes ahead of the upcoming Season 3 launch.
One of the major updates is the introduction of MK II weapons, which are found in the battlefields of Fortuna during missions. Rewarding players for exploration, these powerful weapons will broaden the scope for rare weapons, adding to those you can already purchase and craft while back in the hub world.
Another point of focus for the developer is to curb cheating, which has been a problem since The Cycle: Frontier launched last year. In what they call “The War on Cheats”, the developers have introduced a Cheating Victim Compensation system that helps player regain lost items due to confrontations with cheaters. The introduction of a Trusted Status system, and Shielded Matchmaking are all steps towards making the player onboarding much easier for new players looking to land on the surface of Fortuna III, and get to looting.
The Cycle: Frontier Season 3 will be launching on March 29, bringing with it improvements to the matchmaking system, new campaign quests, and a new flying enemy called the Howler, the first of its kind to be introduced into the game.
Chaise, our resident Escape from Tarkov stan even admitted in his impressions that “The Cycle: Frontier has an engaging loop that really draws you in.” It was even the impetus for my video essay on Extraction Shooters, so suffice to say I am looking forward to cramming into a drop pod, and landing on the surface of Fortuna III when the new update arrives.
