Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest has come to a close, and while it of course featured the trademark awkward moments, a very strange ad for energy drinks featuring The Rock, and dead air, it also included a lot of trailers! Here’s a roundup of every trailer shown!
Street Fighter 6 – Guile gameplay trailer
Street Fighter 6 has been getting quite the buzz since the announcement during Sony’s State of Play event last week. Today we got a look at Guile’s moves in action in this new gameplay trailer.
Aliens: Dark Descent announcement trailer
A new game set in the Aliens franchise is on its way, and was reveled with a great trailer. The trailer makes Aliens: Dark Descent look like a major expansion for Aliens: Fireteam Elite, before at the very end revealing that it’s a tactics game in the vein of XCOM. You can wishlist it on Steam, with a planned release window of 2023.
The Callisto Protocol gameplay trailer
We already saw a little of The Callisto Protocol during the Sony State of Play, but today we had a much longer look at the gameplay, and gruesome death scenes that await us. Originally slated as part of the PUBG universe, The Callisto Protocol comes from the original creators of the Dead Space franchise. It is due out later this year.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II gameplay trailer
The last release before the annual series takes a break, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II showed off gamplay from the Dark Water mission in the single-player campaign. It looks really sharp and cinematic, but will it be enough to get the interest of fans who have been complaining about the decline of the series in recent years?
Flashback 2 teaser trailer
It’s been 30 years since the original Flashback was released, and I doubt there was anyone tuning into this stream who expected a sequel to be revealed. It looks super stylish, and I’ll be very intrigued to see how this one pans out.
Witchfire reveal trailer
The Astronauts revealed their upcoming roguelite shooter Witchfire. It has a real arcade vibe to it, and upon closer inspection it seems that the developers previously worked on the Painkiller series. If it’s up your alley, you can wishlist it on the Epic Games Store.
Fort Solis reveal trailer
Indie studio Fallen Leaf Games revealed Fort Solis, an intense third-person thriller that takes place over a single night on Mars. Interestingly, Troy Baker is attached to this one, so we’re expecting the budget to be pretty high. You can wishlist it on Steam.
Routine re-reveal trailer
I cannot believe that I’m writing about Routine in 2022. I remember writing about this game during my first stint as a games journalist back around 2011-2013, and then the first-person survival horror game went dark. Well, it resurfaced here today, and it still has Mick Gordon attached to provide the soundtrack. Very excited to see this one again. The wishlist is open on Steam!
Outriders Worldslayer Co-Op Trailer
People Can Fly and Square Enix revealed a major expansion for their looter shooter. Named Outriders Worldslayer, the expansion is coming to all platforms on June 30 as you explore new areas and face off against new enemies.
Fall Guys Free for All: Live Action trailer
Mediatonic had a live action trailer for their hit party game Fall Guys, celebrating that the game is becoming free-to-play.
Stormgate announcement trailer
Frost Giant Studios, one of the newly formed studios created after the exodus from Blizzard announced their debut title, Stormgate. It will be a free-to-play RTS game that features a co-op campaign, and up to 3v3 multiplayer. The beta is incoming next year, and you can learn more at the official website.
Highwater teaser trailer
Demagog Studio, the team behind the lauded Golf Club Wasteland teased their upcoming climate-crisis apocalyptic adventure game, Highwater. This one looks really neat! The Steam page can be found here.
American Arcadia announcement trailer
Channeling some real style, American Arcadia from Out of the Blue Games looks to be a really interesting puzzle-platformer. Accoridng to publisher Raw Fury, American Arcadia features 2.5D action side-scrolling platforming and puzzles, while also utilizing 3D first-person action for stealth, hacking, and exploration. You can wishlist this one on Steam.
Goat Simulator 3 announcement trailer
Hands up – who here thought this was Dead Island 2? I sure did. Then the mayhem started and I was overjoyed to see that Coffee Stain are releasing Goat Simulator 3. No, there is no Goat Simulator 2. This one is coming to consoles, and the Epic Games Store.
Midnight Suns cinematic trailer
I’m generally not a Marvel fan, but Fireaxis’ XCOM series is one of my favorite tactical games, so I’m excited to see how Midnight Suns pans out. The trailer was a simple cinematic, but if you’re into the universe then there’s something there for you I’m sure. Midnight Suns is coming out on October 7 for PC, Xbox, and PlayStation.
Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course gameplay trailer
I feel like this DLC has been lingering in the halls of gaming for an eternity, but we got a look at some gameplay from the stylish Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course.
Neon White story trailer
Neon White has been shown a few times over the past twelve months, but I believe this is the first time we’ve seen the premise. The style of this speed running platforming card game is out of this world, and it was revealed that it’s coming in just a week from now on June 16!
Midnight Fight Express release date trailer
Solo developed project Midnight Fight Express finally got a release date of August 23, 2022. This one has been doing the rounds for quite some time, and looks really stylish, like a slower Hotline Miami but in 3D. You can check out a demo of the game on PC via the Steam page.
Warframe: The Duviri Paradox trailer
I feel like if you’re into Warframe, you already know everything about this upcoming expansion, but here’s a new trailer for The Duviri Paradox.
Honkai: Star Rail story trailer
I hadn’t head of Honkai: Star Rail before today, but this upcoming turn-based RPG from the Genshin Impact developers looks really stylish. There has already been two closed betas for the game, but no release date as yet.
Zenless Zone Zero combat trailer
The Genshin Impact folks weren’t done! They showed off another trailer for their upcoming action game Zenless Zone Zero, which has a real future urban vibe like Jet Set Radio. No release date for this one either, but I’m really looking forward to learning more.
TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge release date trailer
TMNT: Turtles in Time is an almost perfect game in my book, so I’ve been eagerly awaiting a release date for DotEmu’s follow up decades later. TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge will have 6-player co-op, and allow you to play as Casey Jones when it arrives next week on June 16. Worth noting that it will be coming to Xbox Game Pass on console and PC.
Humankind console announcement trailer
4X game Humankind is bringing it’s unique melding of history to consoles on November 4, and will also be arriving on Game Pass day one.
One Piece Odyssey reveal trailer
Celebrating the 25th anniversary of the popular manga series, One Piece Odyssey brings the franchise back to video games in a new JRPG later this year on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
Soul Hackers 2 – The Calling trailer
ATLUS showed off a trailer for Soul Hackers 2, a sequel to the cult spin-off series from the mainline Shin Megami Tensei games. This one is due out later this year.
Metal: Hellsinger release date trailer
If you like METAL and you thought that BPM was a pretty near concept, then maybe you should check out Metal: Hellsinger when it arrives on September 15. Featuring tracks from Serj Tankian from System of a Down, the idea is you shoot on the beat to the ferocious tracks. A demo is available now via Steam.

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide extended gameplay trailer
Fatshark have been working on the follow up to the acclaimed Warhammer: Vermintide for quite some time, and today we got a beefy look at the gampeplay that awaits us in Warhammer 40,000: Darktide. It’s basically Vermintide with space guns, but there is a small sliver of GTFO hidden in there too. Darktide is arriving on September 13 this year.

It’s been circling around that Blooper Team has been working on a new Silent Hill game for some time now,m but instead they surprised us with the third installment of their horrific Layers of Fear series. You can face your fear in early 2023.

“Batman is dead” Keighley exclaimed, and then they rolled into a developer introduced trailer for Gotham Knights. It loos… okay. Not expecting much from this one.
The Last of Us Part 1 Remake
After gushing about the upcoming TV show, Naughty Dog confirmed that they are re-making The Last Of Us for the PlayStation 5 and PC. Neil Druckman claims that they wanted to release the fully-realized version of the game, not held back by technologies of the time. It’s launching surprisingly soon on September 2nd.
That’s it folks! Lots of stuff to be excited about. In the middle of all that we also saw an ad for the new Supermassive game The Quarry out today, and a few other ads here and there. But overall given the current state of game development, I personally feel like Summer Game Fest was a success!
