Nintendo hosted their Nintendo Mini Direct late last night, focusing on a great mix of third-party titles coming to the Switch. One thing that I definitely noticed was a number of these games being announced as “coming first to console on the Nintendo Switch”, which was nice to see given the attitude that some gamers have for the aging platform. Anyway, let’s get to it!
Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak – June 30
Launching tomorrow, the hotly anticipated Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak expansion got a nice new trailer that showed off some of the monsters. If you can’t wait just a few days, there’s a demo available right now on the eShop.
NieR: Automata The End of YoRHa Edition – October 6, 2022
Considered to be a masterpiece by many, if you have somehow missed Yoko Taro’s NieR: Automata, then you can pick up The End of YoRHa Edition when it launched on the Switch in October, complete with all the DLC and some new costumes.
Lorelei and the Laser Eyes – 2023
Lorelei and the Laser Eyes is a murder mystery puzzle adventure that looks super unique, with a very Suda51 tone. It’s published by Annapurna, who usually attaches itself to rather interesting project. It’s coming to the Switch first sometime in 2023.
Super Bomberman R2 – 2023
It’s a brand new Bomberman game, and it features support for up to 15 players. What more needs to be said?
Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection – 2023
Capcom announced the Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection, which bundles all 10 MMBN games from the GameBoy Advance into two volumes. Fans of the series will surely be delighted to know that it’s getting a decent treatment, including a dedicated music mode that has over 150 tracks from across the series. It launches sometime next year.
Pac-Man World Re-Pac – August 26, 2022
Nampo revealed a remake of puzzle adventure game Pac-Man World, which is heading to the Switch this August. I’ve never heard of this game, and the trailer has me interested to check it out.
Blanc – February, 2023
Blanc is an adorable black and white adventure starring a fawn and wolf cub who must work together to find their way home. This looks like it might make you cry by the end. It’s out in February, 2023 and is a console exclusive for the Switch at launch.
Return to Monkey Island – 2022
Ron Gilbert returns to his classic franchise, this time under the watchful eye of Devovler Digital. Return to Monkey Island will also be a Switch-first console launch when it arrives sometime later this year.
Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope – October 20, 2022
Ubisoft and Nintendo have partnered up once again to bring the Rabbids and Mario together again. We’ve known about this for a long while, but a release date has finally been set for October.
Harvestella – November 4, 2022
What do you get if you cross Final Fantasy and Stardew Valley? Harvestella, that’s what. Square Enix is bringing this one out towards the end of this year.
Persona series 2022 – 2023
Finally ATLUS has stopped toying with Switch fans, announcing that Persona 5 Royal will be released alongside the other consoles on October 21st, with Persona 4 Golden, and Persona 3 Portable arriving at a later date.
And that was it. A pretty good showing for the Switch that will surely keep it glued to our hands for some time to come.
