Criminally rich – Prison Architect sold over 100,000 in alpha

Alpha funding is bigger than ever according to Introversion Software, who announced yesterday that their upcoming prison simulator, aptly named Prison Architect, has managed to sell over 100,000 copies.

The alpha, which went on sale back in September of last year, has netted the developers a cool $3,256,895 thus far, and the game is still a way off from release. Alpha version 10 was released two weeks ago, adding Steam Workshop and Linux support, which should see Prison Architect lock up even more players in the coming months.

Prison Architect was also one of the first games announced for Steam’s Early Access section which we’re guessing would have helped with those impressive sales figures.
